WEST HOBART

The existing residence is on the city fringe and poses several challenges for the growing family that resides within.  The site is south facing and loses the sun early in the afternoon, leaving the communal family spaces cold and dark. However the location of the house is such that moving elsewhere was not an option.

Due to the siting of the existing residence the only space for extension was to the South.  Our design has maximised the potential to capture the Northern Sun whilst still exploiting the views across the city to the Derwent River.  A simple clean form clad in natural materials will patina and mature with the residents.
