BATTERY POINT

Adaptive Re-use

Situated in an existing heritage listed town house in the heart of Battery Point the mission for us as Architects was to balance the statutory requirements that come with designing an educational facility without disrespecting or damaging the historical building fabric.

The clients brief was for a home for the New Horizons Preschool Inquire 5 Program.  This was to be a space for 4 -5  year olds to develop and extend critical thinking and problem solving skills.  The architecture was to form part of the learning experience for the children.

Our architectural strategy was to embrace and enhance the heritage building features and help integrate them into each learning environment.
